At the same time, his Strawberry Rockets novel follows an all-girl rock band as they navigate work, friendship, and the beginnings of stardom. Future installments of this series will explore their family relationships and the hardships young women faced while breaking into the music industry during the early 80s.

Drawing on a lifelong love of the mid-to-late-20th-century culture, Shawn Harrison combines emotional realism, vivid character voice, strong dialogue, and cultural nostalgia, allowing the scares in his horror novels to hit harder and the bittersweet drama in his comedy novels to land just right on the heart.
